Bergzight CottageBergzight Cottage is a large two-roomed cottage, one of the original farm dwellings of Zandrivier. A wide stoep is ideal for early morning coffee or late afternoon sundowners while taking in the sweeping views for which the cottage is named.
This cottage sleeps up to four adults comfortably with two bedrooms, a shared living space, and bathroom with shower: it contains all that is required for a comfortable weekend. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, small oven, microwave, cutlery and crockery. Electricity is provided and there is 3G and cellphone reception. There is a braai area outside and a large fireplace inside. Guests are welcome to swim in the farm dams and explore the fields, woods and veld. Wood and freshly baked farm bread are available on request. The farm offers a variety of activities or guests can simply relax and enjoy the great views. Zandrivier is located about 1200 m above sea level and enjoys snowfall during most winters. Guests can explore the walking trails on the farm, interact with our animals, cycle, horse-ride or go birding (see our list of What to do for more activities available). |
We had to come back... and so enjoyed Bergzicht cottage with its crisp linen and lovely stoep overlooking the valley. After tucking into the hot bread, the kids vanished to see calves and sheep and horses and chicks. Thanks also for the intro to the farmers in the valley. The kids picked organic apricots and delicious cling peaches. Yum! - Kerry, Dec 2014 Quick info

Karoo nights - the stars are bright and there is a soft stillness in the air which you don’t find anywhere else. What a lovely place! Ben and Stefan are great hosts - we enjoyed talking to them plus a trip to see some fossils and the home-baked bread on our arrival was wonderful!
We visited in winter and even though it can be cold, the fire in the lounge is magic. The stoep facing the mountains is lovely for sitting in the early morning sun. Would recommend the cottage summer or winter. We did not avail ourselves of Stefan’s cooking but if his bread + peach preserve + melon preserve – on the house - is anything to go by I’m sure it’s excellent.
There is much of interest on the farm, such as bushman paintings, fossils, rock formations, kloofs and a waterfall. Sitting as it does between two mountain ranges, walk in any direction and the views are always amazing. We loved that we could bring our dogs – it was wonderful to share wide open spaces with them.
Well equipped kitchen and very interesting décor. Anton loved trying the different hats in the entrance hall!
